Dignity Through Health

Celebrating Navratri with a focus on public health, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday launched the “Gujarat Karmayogi Health Security Scheme (G-Category)” for state government employees, pensioners, officers, and their families.
The scheme offers cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for beneficiaries, including All India Services officers serving in Gujarat. At the inauguration ceremony, symbolic Ayushman cards were distributed, marking the start of enrollment. Health Minister Rushikesh Patel and senior health officials attended the event.
CM Patel said the initiative would provide relief during medical emergencies by reducing financial stress while enhancing healthcare security. Alongside the scheme’s launch, the Chief Minister flagged off 94 new 108 emergency ambulances equipped with advanced technology to strengthen emergency response. “These ambulances will boost golden hour care and provide critical support to patients,” Patel said.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary Dhananjay Dwivedi, Health Commissioners Harshad Patel and Ratankunwar Charan Gadhvi, along with several officials.
With these steps, the Gujarat government aims to combine healthcare reforms with emergency preparedness. The new scheme adds to ongoing public health initiatives such as the Mukhyamantri Amrutam Yojana and Ayushman Bharat, while the 108 Ambulance Service continues as a lifeline during critical hours.
The state has also invested in tertiary care facilities, medical colleges, and specialty centers like the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Gujarat Cancer Research Institute in Ahmedabad. Officials said such initiatives reflect the government’s goal of expanding timely and affordable healthcare access across urban and rural Gujarat.
