Chikkaballapur launches educational, social census drive

CH NEWS

The district administration has launched a comprehensive social and educational census that began on Monday and will continue until October 7. Deputy Commissioner P.N. Ravindra appealed to residents to extend full cooperation to ensure the smooth and successful completion of the exercise.

The survey was inaugurated at a residence in the Shettalli area, where the DC personally observed the proceedings and guided field staff. Conducted under the directives of the State Backward Classes Commission, the census has been meticulously planned at the district level. Help desks have been established to address queries and resolve concerns raised by citizens.

Teachers from government and aided primary schools, alongside staff from other departments, have been deputed as enumerators. They have undergone prior training, including hands-on guidance on using the mobile application developed for the survey. The Health and Family Welfare Department’s 974 ASHA workers have already distributed sample forms to households, ensuring better preparedness.

To cover the district effectively, 369,000 registered families with RR numbers have been geo-tagged. Enumerators have been assigned clusters of 120 to 150 families each, supervised by officers who oversee 20 enumerators and report daily progress to the respective taluk tahsildars. Separate teams are operating in rural and urban areas under the supervision of Gram Panchayats and municipal authorities.

Citizens are requested to provide ration cards, Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, disability cards, and other documents to facilitate accurate data collection. Officials emphasized the importance of verifying every detail carefully. Present at the launch were Additional DC Dr. N. Bhaskar, Sub-Divisional Officer D.H. Ashwin, Backward Classes Welfare Officer Muniratnamma, Tahsildar Rashmi, Municipal Commissioner Mansoor Ali, Taluk Officer Biregowda, and other senior officials.
