Davanagere
The Ganesh immersion procession for the newly installed Hindu Maha Ganapati in Davanagere was inaugurated in a grand manner by SP Uma Prashanth, who personally drove the tractor leading the procession. The deity had been installed at the High School Grounds, and after completing the traditional rituals, the SP set the procession in motion, receiving cheers and applause from devotees.
Over 5,000 people participated in the vibrant procession, making it a colorful and lively event. Since permission for DJ music was not granted, the crowd followed traditional cultural art troupes instead, enjoying the performances along the route.
Several folk art groups, including Nasik Doll, Dollu Kunitha, Veeragase, and Devara Kunitha, entertained the crowd with their energetic and rhythmic performances. Young men and women enthusiastically joined in, dancing to the beats and adding to the festive atmosphere. Meanwhile, Panchamukhi Ganapathi moved majestically through the streets, maintaining a sense of devotion and grandeur.
Police ensured strict security arrangements throughout the route, coordinating to prevent any untoward incidents and guarantee a smooth procession. Volunteers and local authorities also assisted in crowd management, ensuring that devotees could participate safely and enjoy the celebrations. The event highlighted the community’s devotion and enthusiasm, combining religious traditions with cultural performances. SP Uma Prashanth’s participation in leading the procession on the tractor added a special touch, inspiring both devotees and onlookers, and making the Hindu Maha Ganapati immersion a memorable and well-organized celebration for the city.
