In a sweeping night-long operation aimed at strengthening law and order, the Bengaluru City Police conducted surprise raids across all divisions of the city on the midnight of September 19. The drive, carried out under the instructions of Commissioner of Police Seemant Kumar Singh, IPS, targeted rowdies, repeat offenders, and anti-social elements who continue to pose threats to public safety.
According to police reports, a total of 1,478 individuals were checked during the operation. Out of these, 165 identified rowdies were verified, while three absentees and three proclaimed offenders were successfully traced. In addition, seven individuals with pending warrants were apprehended.
The crackdown also extended to drug-related crimes, with 124 cases booked in total, including 10 specifically against narcotics peddlers and users. Officials stated that this targeted action underscores the department’s zero tolerance towards drug abuse, which has been a growing concern in urban neighborhoods.
Commissioner Singh, reviewing the results of the operation, noted that the drive highlighted the department’s commitment to continuous vigilance. He emphasized that such surprise inspections not only deter criminal activities but also reassure citizens about the city’s proactive policing measures.
Senior officers added that these checks will continue as part of sustained efforts to keep anti-social elements under close watch. They also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement, stressing that maintaining safety requires both strict policing and community support. The operation has been widely described as a strong message to offenders that Bengaluru remains firm in its commitment to public safety.
