Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, on Saturday appealed to companies and industrialists not to leave Bengaluru, voicing strong criticism of the state government over the city’s deteriorating infrastructure. Addressing the concerns raised by industries regarding poor road conditions, Kumaraswamy described Bengaluru’s streets as “death traps” due to potholes and deplored the lack of civic management.
In a statement, he assured industrialists of moral support, saying, “You must not leave Bengaluru. This city has a great legacy and heritage. We, the people of Karnataka, are with you. Together, let us rebuild Bengaluru.” He urged industries not to migrate to neighbouring states, highlighting the potential damage such an exodus could cause to Karnataka’s economy.
Kumaraswamy sharply criticized the ruling administration, claiming it has failed in governance and civic responsibilities. He highlighted the accumulation of garbage, slow road repairs, and mismanagement of taxpayers’ money, calling it a “colossal governance failure.” He held the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister responsible for the city’s collapse, accusing the government of prioritizing election promises over urban development.
The Minister stressed that Industrialists’ grievances are justified, pointing out that neighbouring states are ready to lure industries with incentives while Bengaluru suffers neglect. He demanded accountability, asking, “Where is the tax money going?” and called for urgent measures to restore faith in the city’s administration.
