ICC names officials for Women’s World Cup

Dubai

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the list of match officials for the league stage of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, set to begin on September 30 in Guwahati. India will play Sri Lanka in the opening game, with Australia’s Claire Polosak and Eloise Sheridan as on-field umpires.

This will be Polosak’s third time officiating at a Women’s World Cup. Sheridan also has experience, having worked in the 2022 edition. Both made history in 2018 as the first female umpiring pair in Australia, and in 2023, they officiated a Sheffield Shield match.

TV umpire Kim Cotton and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir Jesy will assist in the first match. Shandre Fritz will serve as the match referee.

On October 1, Sue Redfern and Gayathri Venugopalan will umpire the Australia vs. New Zealand match. On October 2, Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera will handle the Bangladesh vs. Pakistan game.

Cotton’s first on-field duty will be during India’s match against South Africa on October 9. The panel includes 14 umpires and 4 referees from nine countries. Semi-final and final appointments will be announced later.
