Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said India’s Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack, demonstrated the nation’s resolve and the strength of its military retaliation.
NEW DELHI
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared that Operation Sindoor has shown India’s enemies the scale of its military response, reinforcing that victory is now a habit for the armed forces. He was addressing a group of 1965 war veterans in New Delhi.
“We launched Operation Sindoor and showed the enemy just how strong our retaliation can be. The coordination and courage with which our team worked has proven that victory is no longer an exception for us. Victory has become our habit,” Singh said.
The minister recalled the terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, noting that the incident shook the nation but failed to dent its morale. “Our prime minister resolved that this time the terrorists would be taught such a lesson that they would never have imagined,” he said.
Operation Sindoor, carried out on May 7, targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories. The strikes triggered four days of clashes, which concluded on May 10 after an understanding to halt hostilities.
Singh emphasised that the government was determined to punish those behind the attack and praised the armed forces’ coordination in executing the strikes.
Reflecting on India’s geopolitical challenges, he said the nation has faced difficulties with its neighbours since Independence. “But the specialty of Indians is that we never accepted challenges as fate. We shaped our own destiny and created our future,” he remarked.
