Popular Tamil comedian and actor Robo Shankar passed away at the age of 46 on Thursday night in Chennai. His funeral was held on Friday, with hundreds of fans, friends, and film industry members gathering to pay their last respects.
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin visited Robo Shankar’s residence and placed a garland on his mortal remains. “We are deeply saddened by his passing. He entertained audiences with his humour and journeyed from stage to screen with great success,” Stalin shared on X.
Shankar’s body was kept at his home for public viewing. Well-known actors including Sivakarthikeyan, Kottachi, Nalini, Snehan, Radha Ravi, and singer Mano were among those who paid tribute.
Members of the Small Screen Actors Association, including president Bharath, also offered their condolences.
Close friend and actor Deepak said, “Robo Shankar was a versatile talent. We performed together on many occasions. His death is a big loss.”
According to GEM Hospital, Shankar was admitted on September 16 with a serious abdominal condition. Despite intensive treatment, he died on September 18 at 9:05 PM due to multiple organ failure.
