Deputy CM urges youth to embrace innovation, discipline, and nation-building values
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar paid tributes to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya on the occasion of National Engineers’ Day, commemorated across the country on September 15. As the chief guest at the event organized by the Karnataka Engineers’ Association (Regd), Shivakumar garlanded the statue of Sir M. Visvesvaraya at K.R. Circle in Bengaluru and saluted his extraordinary contribution to India’s engineering and nation-building.
Speaking on the occasion, Shivakumar recalled Visvesvaraya’s remarkable legacy as one of India’s greatest engineers, administrators, and visionaries. He emphasized that Sir M.V.’s principles of discipline, innovation, and commitment continue to inspire generations of engineers and professionals across the state and country.
Sir M. Visvesvaraya was not only a pioneering engineer but also a symbol of dedication and nation-first thinking. Today, Karnataka stands as a hub for technology and infrastructure, thanks to the foundations he laid. On Engineers’ Day, we must rededicate ourselves to his ideals, Shivakumar said. He also lauded the Karnataka Engineers’ Association for organizing the tribute, adding that engineers play a critical role in shaping modern society through innovations in infrastructure, technology, and sustainable development. Shivakumar further urged young engineers to adopt the vision of Sir M.V. and work toward building a self-reliant and progressive India.
The event saw the participation of several engineers, officials, and members of the public who gathered to honor the legendary statesman-engineer. National Engineers’ Day is celebrated every year on September 15, marking the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose engineering marvels remain benchmarks even today.
