The city has witnessed a rise in robbery incidents, with the latest case involving a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) falling victim to armed assailants. Police have now arrested three men in connection with the crime, which shocked residents and raised concerns over public safety.
The incident occurred in the early hours of September 1, when retired ACP Subbanna was out on a walk near a veterinary hospital in Hebbal. According to police reports, he was confronted by unidentified assailants who threatened him at knife-point. In the scuffle, the attackers robbed him of gold ornaments valued at nearly ₹8 lakh before fleeing the scene.
Following the robbery, Subbanna immediately lodged a complaint at the Sanjay Nagar Police Station. He described how the culprits had concealed their faces with black cloth, making it difficult to identify them. Based on his complaint, the police launched a swift investigation and formed a special team to track down the suspects.
Within days, the Sanjayanagar police successfully traced and apprehended three accused individuals. The arrested men have been identified as Mohsin Irfan and Mohammed Salman of DJ Halli, along with another associate. Officials stated that their modus operandi included targeting individuals walking alone during the early hours and using sharp weapons to intimidate victims. Authorities have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to determine whether the arrested men were involved in similar robberies across the city.
