Bengaluru to Face 60-Hour Cauvery Water Supply Disruption from September 15

Residents of the city have been advised to brace for a temporary disruption in Cauvery River water supply, as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced urgent maintenance work. The supply will be affected for a total of 60 hours between September 15 and 17, impacting large parts of the city.

According to BWSSB officials, the disruption is necessary due to repair and maintenance work at critical pumping stations under Cauvery Stage V. In addition, routine maintenance will also be carried out at Phase-1 and Phase-2 pumping stations of Cauvery Stages I, II, III, and IV between 6 am on September 16 and 6 am on September 17.

During this period, areas dependent on Cauvery supply are likely to experience either low pressure or a complete cut in water supply. The BWSSB has urged citizens to store adequate quantities of water in advance and use it judiciously during the maintenance window.

Water supply from the Cauvery River remains a crucial lifeline for Bengaluru, catering to millions of residents across the city. Authorities have emphasized that the maintenance is vital to ensure uninterrupted water distribution in the long term and to prevent sudden breakdowns in the supply system.

The announcement has created concern among residents, particularly in high-density areas where dependence on Cauvery water is higher. BWSSB has assured that the work will be completed within the stipulated time and normal supply will resume on September 17.

Citizens have also been requested to cooperate with the temporary inconvenience in the larger interest of ensuring reliable water supply infrastructure for the future.
