Karnataka MLA Vinay Kulkarni, previously detained by the CBI over allegations of evidence tampering in the murder case of former Zilla Panchayat member Yogeesh Gowda, has been granted a two-day interim bail by the Special Court for Representatives in Bengaluru.
Kulkarni, who had earlier secured bail, contested and won a legislative assembly seat, but his bail was later revoked due to concerns that he might influence witnesses. He was required to return to Parappan Agrahara prison following the revocation.
Seeking temporary relief, Kulkarni petitioned the court to allow him to stay out of custody so he could accompany his son, Hemant, for leg surgery after an accident. The court approved his plea, granting interim bail strictly for two days. He must report back to CBI officials on September 11 by 5 PM to resume his jail term. During the two-day period, Kulkarni is required to remain in Bengaluru and is prohibited from holding or attending any meetings, the court instructed.
