Shivacharyas from four districts resolved to support the Veerashaiva-Lingayat Unity Conference in Hubballi on September 19 during a meeting of matadhipathis. The divisional conference of the All India Veerashaiva Shivacharya Association, held at Panchagrama Muktimath in Bhutaramana Hatti, saw participation from 100 Shivacharyas.
As per the All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha resolution, the upcoming social and educational survey from September 22 will record all Veerashaiva-Lingayats under the “Other” category in the religion column, and their caste will also be listed as “Veerashaiva-Lingayat.”
The conference condemned some Mathadhis creating duality in society by claiming Veerashaiva differs from Lingayat, and attempting to undermine the ancient Guru tradition of the Panchapithas. A resolution against this will be taken at the Ekta Samavesha in Hubballi.
Chandrashekhar Shivacharya Swamiji, National Vice President of Akhila Bharat Veerashaiva Shivacharya Sanstha, presided over the event. Other prominent leaders included Shivasiddha Someshwara Shivacharya Swamiji (Muktimath), Veerabhadra Shivayogi Shivacharya Swamiji (Katakola M. Chandaragi Hiremath), and district unit presidents from Dharwad, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Kannada, and Uttara Math.
Shivacharyas from multiple towns—including Bagojikoppa, Bichgutti Haralapur, Old Hubli, Shivapur, Sattigeri, Sangolli, Suthagatti, Mavinakatti, Sharanamatti, Mamadapura, Hooli, Muthnal, Bannur, Pashchapur, Kabbur, Mullur, Ullagaddi Khanapura, Navalgund, Hiremunnalli, Byahatti, and Amminabavi—participated in the gathering.
