The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has confirmed that the Super Cup will begin on October 25, marking a step towards normalcy in Indian football. The decision was made during the AIFF executive committee’s virtual meeting on September 6.
The AIFF also approved a Request for Quotation (RFQ) process to select an agency to handle the tender for the Indian Super League’s commercial rights. This comes after the AIFF failed to renew its Masters Right Agreement with its previous commercial partner.
A three-member Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) will oversee the selection process. It includes former Supreme Court judge L. Nageswara Rao as chairperson, AFC Audit Committee member Kesavaran Murugasu, and AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey.
Following a Supreme Court order on September 2, the AIFF is working to ensure the Indian football calendar starts on time. The confirmed Super Cup dates, from October 25 to November 22, will allow clubs to begin pre-season training while the tender process continues.
The AIFF’s MRA Task Force Committee, formed earlier this year, will act as the Tender Committee to evaluate the agency’s recommendations. The federation hopes the league will begin after the Super Cup concludes.
