Three-Day Free Entrepreneurship Training for Farmers

Farmers can register; first 40 prioritized, carry ID for training

The District Agricultural Training Centre at Babbur Farm, Hiriyur Taluk, will host a three-day free training programme on entrepreneurship development for farmers and farm women of Chitradurga district from September 9 to 11.

The programme will begin on September 9 at 10 am with Dr. J.M. Saraswati, Home Science Scientist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hiriyur, speaking on new income-generating activities, project selection, detailed reporting, and business growth strategies. Mohan Kumar will provide guidance on setting up various food processing units under the PMFME scheme.

On September 10, P. Sumathi from Shriram Self-Help Group, Vanivilaspura, will train participants in self-employment activities such as making value-added millet products, banana chips, pickles, banana powder, peanut chikki, laddus, and peanut butter. Apiculture expert Shantaveerayya will share insights into beekeeping and its by-products.

On September 11, traditional food specialist Dr. Ishwaran P Teertha from Maradidevigere will present value-added products including herbal tea, decoctions, malt, flower tea, and chutneys. Lokesh from Parisiri Naturals, Lakkihalli, will discuss millet processing and value addition, while Tippeswamy, Financial Advisor at Canara Bank’s Financial Literacy Centre, Chitradurga, will explain various banking facilities available to farmers.

Interested farmers can register by calling 8277931058. Only the first 40 applicants will be admitted on a priority basis. Participants must carry their FID card or voter ID. Assistant Agriculture Director and Head of the Training Centre, R. Rajinikanth, encouraged farmers to take full advantage of this opportunity to gain practical knowledge and boost their entrepreneurial skills.

This training aims to equip local farmers with modern techniques and business insights, helping them increase income, diversify agricultural activities, and successfully establish small-scale enterprises in the district.
