Sony Pictures has unveiled the much-anticipated trailer of Nia DaCosta’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. The sequel continues the story after 28 Years Later, exploring the grim survival struggles of a post-apocalyptic England.
Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) becomes entangled in a disturbing new relationship with consequences that could alter the world. Meanwhile, Spike (Alfie Williams) crosses paths with Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) and his ruthless gang of acrobatic killers, leading to a nightmare he cannot escape. Unlike the earlier films, where the infected were the biggest danger, The Bone Temple suggests that the cruelty of survivors may be far more terrifying.
The film features Ralph Fiennes in the lead, with performances by Emma Laird, Maura Bird, Erin Kellyman, and Chi Lewis-Parry. Cillian Murphy also makes a brief return as Jim, a role he played in 28 Days Later. Director Danny Boyle, who serves as executive producer, confirmed Murphy will have a larger role in the upcoming third installment.
Produced by Columbia Pictures, DNA Films, and Decibel Films, the project is backed by Boyle, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernie Bellew. With a gripping mix of horror and human conflict, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple promises to expand the franchise’s dark universe. The film is slated for a global theatrical release on January 16, 2026.
