Emergency Team Formed for Smooth Ganpati Immersion

Over 4 lakh devotees expected at Chitradurga Ganpati immersion; emergency response team formed to ensure safety and order.

Deputy Commissioner T. Venkatesh announced that an Emergency Response Team comprising officers from various departments will be appointed to ensure smooth and safe conduct of the Hindu Mahaganpati immersion scheduled on September 13, which is expected to draw over 4 lakh people.

Speaking at the District Disaster Management Authority meeting on Tuesday, he said the immersion must be carried out in an orderly manner and directed officials to take all precautionary measures. The team will include officers from the fire, health, BESCOM, municipal corporation, home guards, and other key departments, working in coordination with the police. District-level officers and Tahsildars from various taluks will also be deployed to assist.

Superintendent of Police Ranjit Kumar Bandaru said special teams have already been formed in collaboration with the district administration, police, emergency service departments, volunteers, and NGOs to handle situations such as stampedes, medical emergencies, electrical failures, or fire incidents due to the massive crowd. He emphasized that liquor sales should be completely banned, and strict enforcement ensured.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner B.T. Kumaraswamy, Additional Superintendent of Police Shivakumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Mehboob Jilani Qureshi, Regional Transport Officer Bharat M. Kalesinghe, KSRTC Divisional Controller Venkatesh, Municipal Council Commissioner Lakshmi, and other departmental and police officials.

Deputy Commissioner Venkatesh instructed all officers to discharge their responsibilities diligently and remain vigilant to prevent any mishaps during the event.
