Governor Presents President’s & Union Home Minister’s Medals to Karnataka Police

Karnataka Governor Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot honored police officers and personnel with prestigious President’s and Union Home Minister’s medals.

Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, presented the President’s Distinguished Service Medal, President’s Commendable Service Medal, and the Union Home Minister’s Medal to Karnataka Police officers and personnel at the President Medal Investiture Ceremony 2025, held at Glass House, Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor praised the Karnataka Police for its professionalism, courage, and commitment to public service. “This ceremony is a mark of respect for the police and reflects the deep faith and gratitude society holds towards its guardians. These medals honor officers and personnel who have shown exemplary courage, dedication, and efficiency in maintaining peace and security in the state,” he said.

The Governor described police service as a mission, not merely a profession, emphasizing that such recognition symbolizes society’s appreciation for officers’ role in preventing and solving crimes, fostering public trust, and upholding justice. He added, “Karnataka Police has consistently earned people’s trust through discipline, courage, and sacrifice, rightly earning recognition as the premier police force in the country.”

Highlighting the importance of technology in law enforcement, he urged the force to strengthen its capabilities in tackling cybercrime and other modern challenges. The Governor also commended the leadership of DG & IGP Dr. M. A. Salim and the Karnataka State Police Department for their work in crime control, disaster management, and addressing social challenges.

The ceremony saw the presence of Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Shri Tushar Girinath, senior officers, and dignitaries. The Governor concluded by acknowledging the families of police personnel, calling them the foundation of the force’s strength, and expressed confidence in Karnataka Police’s continued dedication to the nation’s security and integrity.

Speaking at the event, CM Siddaramaiah emphasized that police social commitment is crucial to maintaining peace in society. He instructed DC R & I police stations to operate effectively and ensure the protection of vulnerable groups. Highlighting the low punishment for crimes against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, he urged officers to take preventive measures to reduce offenses. Siddaramaiah also stressed that police must ensure justice reaches ordinary citizens and help eliminate societal inequalities. Award-winning officers were praised as role models for their dedication and service. He called on all police personnel to self-review and continue working diligently to safeguard the community.
