On the occasion of the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, the National Sports Day 2025 celebrations were inaugurated on Friday at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium under the joint aegis of the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, and the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Bengaluru Urban District.
Rajya Sabha member Jaggesh inaugurated the programme by offering floral tributes to the portrait of Major Dhyan Chand.
On this occasion, Govindaraju, President of the Karnataka Olympics Association, distributed prizes to athletes who had won in football and athletics competitions.
The event was attended by Dr. Naveen Raj Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports; Chetan R., Commissioner of the Department; Shashikala, Assistant Director of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Bengaluru Urban District; as well as several sportspersons.
