Kirugavalu villagers cheer police after dramatic shootout leads to arrest of murder and theft suspects

Residents of Kirugavalu village in Malavalli taluk applauded the police following the arrest of five men involved in the murder of a local hotel owner. The incident unfolded after a dramatic shootout early Friday, during which one of the main accused, Kiran, attacked a police officer and was shot before being taken into custody. He was admitted to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) for treatment.
Kiran, along with Anand, Sharath, Srinivas, and Krishnachari, had carried out a theft at Mahalakshmi Jewellery Store in Kirugavalu on the night of August 17. The gang broke the shutter using a gas cutter and stole 110 grams of gold and 2 kilograms of silver. The hotel owner, Madappa, who witnessed the theft, was suffocated to death by the gang to silence him.
On Friday evening, the police brought the remaining accused to the crime scene for a spot inspection. A large crowd had gathered along the streets and on rooftops, expressing relief and appreciation for the police operation. Villagers cheered the authorities for their swift action in apprehending the murder suspects and recovering stolen property.
The arrest has brought a sense of justice and security to the community, with locals praising the police for their bravery in handling a dangerous gang. Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to ensure that all aspects of the crime, including the murder and the theft, are thoroughly addressed.
