Karnataka has emerged as the leading state in implementing the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme, securing 5.71 lakh completed registrations—17.7% of the national total. The scheme, launched to support traditional artisans and craftspeople, provides training, toolkits, financial aid, and market linkages.
According to the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, 2.71 crore applications were received across India till June 30, 2025. Of the 29.94 lakh registrations completed, Karnataka accounted for the highest share, followed by Maharashtra (10.4%) and Madhya Pradesh (8.8%).
Karnataka’s success lies in its efficiency in navigating the three-tier verification process. Of the 32.22 lakh applications received, 20.84 lakh cleared the first stage, 10.08 lakh advanced to the second, and 5.76 lakh reached the final stage, resulting in 5.71 lakh verified artisans. By contrast, Madhya Pradesh processed over 31 lakh applications but managed only 2.77 lakh registrations.
District-level data shows Tumakuru leading with 65,276 registrations, followed by Kolar (38,199), Chitradurga (39,926), Chamarajanagar (30,001), and Bidar (32,974). Udupi and Kodagu, though smaller districts, also recorded notable participation. Conversely, districts such as Vijayapura, Bagalkote, and Bengaluru Urban saw a sharp gap between applications and successful registrations.
The scheme has also boosted representation among marginalized groups, with 1.3 lakh SC and nearly 60,000 ST beneficiaries registering—most of whom have completed basic training.
