Safety of women must be provided at care centers to avoid complications and exploitation

The Ghataprabha river is overflowing due to heavy rains in the Ghat region of Maharashtra. As a result, a flood situation has arisen in Gokak town, and 200 families have taken shelter in a care center.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan was visiting the care center, a victim woman fell at his feet and burst into tears. We have been facing this problem every year. Please give us a permanent solution, I will fall at your feet, she pleaded.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner, speaking to the media, said, we have made arrangements at the care center for the victims whose houses have been flooded. Now, I have visited here along with the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer and Tahsildar. The refugees have narrated their plight. 200 families have been admitted to the care center, including two pregnant women and three lactating mothers. They have been admitted to the Gokak Taluk Hospital. Separate arrangements have been made for 12 young children so that they do not suffer. We are handling the flood situation with utmost sensitivity, he said.
I spoke to the district in-charge Minister on Wednesday morning and informed him. He will come here and inspect. We will discuss with the district in-charge Minister and the MLAs here to find a permanent solution, said Mohammed Roshan.
Most of the victims here live in rented houses. Therefore, the compensation will reach the house owners. However, the rule is such that the real victims will not be compensated. I will bring this matter to the attention of the government. I will instruct the Tahsildar to provide compensation to the victims who were living in rented houses as per the SDRF and NDRF guidelines, said Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan.
