Bengaluru faces power cuts on August 20

More than 90 areas across the city will face a day-long power outage on Wednesday, August 20, as Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) undertakes urgent maintenance work. The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) will carry out repair and upgrade activities at several substations, forcing a temporary cut in supply.

According to BESCOM officials, the shutdown will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. in most areas. In Koramangala, which falls under the 66/11 KV substation, supply will be affected between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Prominent localities impacted include Koramangala blocks 4, 5, 6 and 8, NGV campus, Kapila Block, Jakkasandra, Rajendranagar, Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, Koramangala Village, parts of S.T. Bed, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Similarly, major disruptions are expected in HBR Layout and adjoining zones from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Areas affected include HBR blocks 1 through 5, Yasin Nagar, Subhash Layout, Ramdev Garden, Krishna Reddy Layout, Tirs Colony, Kammanahalli Main Road, Lingarajapuram, Janakiram Layout, Govindapura, K.G. Halli, Vinobanagar, B.M. Layout, HRBR Layout, Hennur Main Road, Oil Mill Road, Shampura Main Road, K.Narayanapura, R.K. Hegde Nagar, Thanisandra, and several adjoining extensions.

Other localities scheduled for cuts include Muthyalanagar, Mathikere, R.K. Hegde Nagar, Brindavan Nagar, SBM Colony, LIC Colony, Akkiyappa Garden, HMT Layout, J.P. Park, Gokul 1st Stage, and multiple roads across Yeshwanthpur and surrounding zones. BESCOM has urged citizens to cooperate, stating that such scheduled shutdowns are necessary to ensure uninterrupted and safer power supply in the future. Residents have been advised to make alternate arrangements for the day.
