Top-Ranked Student Honored Amid Cultural Festivities at School Event

Anjali Convent and Nightingale High School in Srinivasanagar, Sunkadakatte, marked Independence Day and Sri Krishna Janmashtami with grandeur, blending patriotism and cultural fervor.
This year’s celebrations gained special significance as Manjunath C. Bagasi, a student of the school who secured 621 out of 625 marks in the 2024-25 SSLC examinations and earned the 5th rank in Karnataka, was the chief guest. He was felicitated by the school management before hoisting the national flag.
The event commenced with the symbolic release of pigeons by the institution’s secretary, M.S. Sarala, signifying peace and freedom. School principal, Dr. B. Krishnegowda, presided over the ceremony, reminding students of the immense sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters. He urged them to uphold the values of responsibility, discipline, and national pride. Stressing the importance of never forgetting soldiers who guard the nation and farmers who feed its people, he encouraged children to grow into responsible citizens.
The day was filled with a variety of cultural activities. Students staged patriotic songs, speeches, and skits, while children dressed as freedom fighters brought historical moments alive. A colorful procession was held with the state topper student carried on a decorated golden chariot, drawing admiration from the crowd.
Adding charm to the festivities, pre-primary children dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha, delighting the audience with their vibrant costumes. The celebrations concluded with appreciation from the school’s president, S.G. Gowda, who lauded the efforts of cultural coordinators Shiba, Lakshmi, and Prabhavathi for organizing the memorable event.
