At the DMK District Secretaries meeting held at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, a resolution was passed condemning the BJP-led Union government and the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing them of vote theft during the Special Summary Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar. The party also urged the ECI to act on key voter identity and electoral process reforms submitted by DMK MPs in a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner last month.

The meeting, chaired by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin, was attended by Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, DMK general secretary Duraimurugan, senior leaders, and over 60 district secretaries. Three resolutions were passed. The first condemned the ECI and BJP-led Union government, criticising the SIR initiative as a threat to fair and democratic elections, and denouncing the FIR filed against INDIA bloc MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, for protesting against the ECI.

The second resolution called on the ECI to address DMK’s demands related to postal votes, better coordination between Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs), and other electoral safeguards. The third resolution expressed gratitude to DMK cadres for the success of the Oraniyil Tamil Nadu membership drive, which reached families across the state.

In a post on X, Stalin highlighted the Dravidian Model government’s welfare schemes and the Tamil Nadu United campaign for boosting public support. He urged party workers to strengthen Booth Level Committees (BLCs) to counter BJP’s alleged tactics such as vote theft and SIR ahead of the 2026 elections. Calling for united efforts, he stated, “The 2026 battle requires our full strength. Let us march forward and win!.”

Former MP V. Maitreyan resigned from the AIADMK on Wednesday and joined the ruling DMK in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Shortly after, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced his expulsion from the party. At the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, Maitreyan, who earlier served as AIADMK’s organisation secretary, formally entered the party fold. The event was attended by senior DMK leaders and ministers Duraimurugan and K.N. Nehru, along with Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
