Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, speaking at a campaign meeting for the farmers’ panel for the election of the board director of the Sri Malaprabha Cooperative Sugar Factory in Dastikoppa village near MK Hubballi, said, “I am a farmer’s daughter. We have an inseparable relationship with the Malaprabha Cooperative Sugar Factory. We have been the shareholder farmers here since the factory’s inception. I have sent my brother to revive the struggling factory. Our goal is to restore the factory to its former glory.”
Addressing concerns over misinformation, she said, “Some people are spreading misinformation that we are outsiders and have come to privatize the factory. If the farmers bless us, we will respond through development. This is a farmers’ factory. The farmers are its owners. Our only goal is to save and grow the factory; we have no ill intentions.”
Her brother, Channaraja Hattiholi, has come with the panel of 15 candidates to seek the blessings of the farmers for the factory’s revival. He emphasized the goal of factory development and urged farmers to join hands to save factories in distress.
Hebbalkar added, “We will revive the factory with the help and facilities of the government, along with local MLAs Babasaheb Patil and Khanapur MLA Vitthal Halagekar. It is our responsibility to fulfill the promise we made.” MLA Babasaheb Patil also spoke in support.
The election candidate said, “We contested the election to save and develop this factory with history. There is no malice in this. We will work sincerely to protect the interests of farmers and workers and restore the factory to its former glory. Therefore, I appeal to all farmers to vote and support all 15 candidates in our panel.”
