  MYSURU
The joint committee of all labour unions in Mysuru district launched a strike today.  
 As decided at the Delhi Convention of the Central Labour Organizations, the joint committee comprising of INTUC,  AITTUC, HMS, CTTU, AIUTUC, AICCU, TUCC, CWA, LPF, UTUC and other independent national organisations and Insurance, Bank unions staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner. 
  The agitators demanded to control the price raise of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and other essential commodities, reduce the excise duty imposed on petroleum products, to sanction direct account transfer of Rs 7500 to every family who are not covered under income tax, the four labour laws formulated in favour of the capitalists must be abolished, to safeguard labour rights, the central government has to take ack the power (amendment) act along with the farm act, to formulate constitutional support price for the products, the state government must also take back the anti-farmer laws, minimum wages and social security must be implemented for anganwadi, asha and mid-day meal workers.  In order to revive the national economy, public investment in agriculture, education, health and other critical public services, property tax for the tax must be increased.   

The EPF pension must be fixed at minimum Rs. 7000, ESI limit must be removed, all workers must get quality health facilities, retirement age in private sector also must be fixed as 60 years were among the demands putforth by the protesting workers.
