Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi visited Nandgad to review the progress of the Krantiveer Sangolli Rayanna Museum, located at the site where the legendary freedom fighter was hanged by the British. Tangadagi instructed officials to ensure that the museum is ready for inauguration before the winter session of the state legislature.
During the review meeting, the minister highlighted that the museum, along with the Sangolli Rayanna Sainik School, is being developed at a total cost of Rs 261 crore. The Nandgad museum, which is being constructed on a 13-acre site, has a budget of Rs 59 crore. The construction has been ongoing for the past four years, and the minister emphasized that all necessary works should be completed within the next week.
Tangadagi specifically pointed out that some tasks, such as the installation of cinema animators and electronic technology, remain pending and must begin immediately. He also stressed the timely settlement of the contractor’s bills and the completion of reconstruction of historical monuments.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already dedicated a Sainik School and Shaurya Bhoomi on 100 acres in Sangolli. Additional development plans include a Sangolli Rayanna Study Centre and a library. The review meeting was attended by several officials, including Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority Chairman HM Revanna and MLA Vitthal Halgekar.
