HAVERI
The recruitment of the Haveri Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) teaching faculties is facing trouble. Even after issuing orders to 35 candidates who have been selected for teaching faculties, 40 percent of them have not joined, even after four months. This is a hurdle for the next academic session because the second batch of MBBS students will join soon.
Meanwhile, R Vishal, the in-charge Secretary for the district, has been instructed to issue notice to those candidates and issue a notification for recruitment. However, HIMS may face a legal hurdle in issuing notification as many candidates who missed the opportunity have knocked on the high court door, alleging irregularities in the recruitment process.
According to HIMS sources, the recruitment notification has issued on August 12, 2021, for recruiting five Professors, 17 Associate Professors, 31 Assistant Professors, 12 Senior Residents, and 14 Tutors total of 79 Teaching faculty members. An interview was conducted from January 19 to 22, 2022. The merit list was announced on April 30, 2022. The Institute announced a list of 35 candidates who have been selected. Among these, only 22 faculty members have joined. Now, the HIMS is facing a scarcity of teaching faculties and the problem will escalate once the second batch commences.   Before commencing the second batch of the MBBS course, we need to fill up the teaching posts to run classes. Meanwhile, some of the candidates who have missed the post in the final selection list have appealed to the High Court. We are waiting for legal advice for issuing notification once again, said Dr Uday Mulagund, dean of HIMS.
