Actress Laila, who is known for her chirpy performances in films like Pithamagan, Kanda Naal Mudhal and Ullam Ketkumae, will be acting in a Tamil film after a 16-year gap. The actress will be playing a key role in Karthi’s upcoming film Sardar, which is directed by PS Mithran.
A source tells us, “Laila will be seen in a full-fledged role and she has already shot for it for more than 15 days.”
We hear that the actress will be playing the role for which the team had originally roped in Simran. “Due to the COVID pandemic, the shooting schedule of the film underwent changes, and Simran did not have dates as she had committed to other projects. So, the makers felt that Laila would be the perfect fit for this role,” adds our source.
Laila was last seen in Kollywood in Ajith’s 2006 film Thirupathi, in which she made a cameo appearance. The actress, who had settled down in Mumbai following her marriage, had appeared as the judge on the reality TV show Dance Jodi Dance Juniors, and had also made a guest appearance in the TV serial Gokulathil Seethai, in which she played herself. In 2019, she was supposed to make her comeback with the thriller Alice, which had Raiza Wilson in the lead role, but the film did not take off.
Raashi Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan are also among the cast of the film, which is said to be an action thriller.
