BJP MLA urges CM Bommai to ban madrasas

At a time when Karnataka has been hit by the Hijab row and a ban on Muslim traders at annual festivals, BJP legislator and Chief Minister’s Basavaraj Bommai’s political secretary MP Renukacharya on Saturday sought closure of all Madrasas in the state, claiming that they propagated “anti-national lessons”. “I request the CM and Education Minister to ban madrasas. Don’t we have other schools where Hindu and Christian students study? They teach anti-national lessons there. They should be banned or made to teach the syllabus taught in other schools,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Karnataka on April 5 to launch a slew of programmes, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said while speaking to reporters at Hubballi airport on Saturday. The chief minister added that Union minister Amit Shah is set to visit the state on April 1. “Shah would launch the logo of the Ksheera Abhivridhi Bank and the Yeshaswini programme during his visit. It would give a boost to the dairy sector,” Bommai said.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Saturday registered 79 fresh Covid-19 cases and one death, and took the tally to 39,45,247 and 40,049 respectively, so far. Ninety four patients got discharged today and the total recoveries was 39,03,380 till date, according to a bulletin. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said that instructions have been given to issue work orders for all programmes and projects announced in the 2022-23 budget before April 30. In other news, a drinking water project has been approved for 120 villages in Shiggaon and Savanur, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Saturday.
