Specially-abled basketball tournament inaugurated by Ashwathanarayan

Sri Basava International Foundation, Karnataka Wheelchair Basket Ball Association and Belagavi District Disabled Sports Associations presents “SR Bommai & Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar Memorial” basketball tournament was inaugurated by Dr. CN Ashwathanarayana on Saturday.

Speaking at the inauguration of the tournament, which was held at the Basketball Club in Malleswaram 15th Cross, the minister said that the government is keen to give 5 per cent reservation to disabled in government employement.

People with disabilities have unique physical abilities and immense talent. He said society should be keen to provide all the rights and privileges to them like how rest of them get it.

The excitement of sports activity cannot be expressed. Particularly, the disabled people forget about their physical disability and become active in basketball-like sports as a step towards empowerment.

45 family receive Rs 1 Lakh as compensation

In a separate ceremony held at the Rotary Club in Malleswaram, distributed the family members of 45 people who died due to COVID-19 were paid Rs 1 lakh each as compensation by Minister Ashwathanarayan.
