Light Vehicles On Yemalur-Bellandur Lake Road Allowed From Saturday

Must read

The Yemalur-Bellandur Lake Road, which was shut temporarily for repairs, reopened for Light Motor Vehicle (LMVs) like motorcycles, autorickshaws and cars on Saturday, a Bruhat Bengaluru Maharanagara Palike (BBMP) official said. BBMP chief engineer (solid waste management) Basavaraj Kabade said that the Yemalur-Bellandur Kere Kodi Road was closed due to the remodelling of the bridge. Heavy vehicles won’t be allowed for now, Kabade informed. The engineer said the old bridge was just 12 metres wide and hence the remodelling. The vent width was just around 15-16 metres. We are now increasing the vent size to 24 metres and the width of the road to 30 metres, so that water flows. The height will also be nearly two feet above the road level so that the water offset from the Bellandur Lake flows easily, Kabade said. The closure of the road for another day on Friday inconvenienced Bengaluru residents who use it for their daily commute. Several netizens posted videos and photographs of alternate roads in worse conditions they take to travel. Hemanth Kamath, a food blogger, tweeted; With Bellandur Lake Road blocked for repair, this is our daily route to office. Yes, you can take Marathahalli road or come from Koramangala but the traffic is insane. Another netizen said that in Bengaluru roads to High Tech is paved with mud. Most commuters here are headed to the various Tech offices & campuses which populate the Outer Ring Road. Welcome to Bangalore. Here the road to High Tech is paved with mud, Chandrani tweeted.
