The Quad grouping of Australia, India, Japan, and the US has committed to assuring security-by-design and best practices of cyber security in response to challenges from China in the area of telecom and 6G technologies, according to a White House news statement. The Quad Senior Cyber Group stated in a joint statement following its meeting in New Delhi on January 30 and 31 that it was working to identify best security practices for software services and products as well as minimal critical infrastructure cyber security criteria.
The Group’s optimistic and ambitious agenda was pushed at our meeting. Quad partners, especially those in the Indo-Pacific region, are collaborating to strengthen cyberspace security and promote an international digital economy that benefits everyone read the press statement.
By lowering the number of significant cyber incidents and strengthening their response capabilities, progress on these goals will improve the national cyber capabilities of Quad countries. Improved cyber risk management of vital infrastructure will be made possible by closer collaboration on machine learning research, the report added.
A Quad-endorsed best practice standard for cyber security ICT and OT requirements for critical infrastructure will be adhered to by major software services, products, and providers that are used by governments. According to the announcement, these initiatives show the Quad’s dedication to enhancing regional capability and guaranteeing the supply of an open and secure telecommunications infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific.
