We had reported a few months ago that Mohan will be making a comeback in the industry with Hara, directed by Vijay Sri G. Now, the latest on the project is that the actor has started shooting for the film in Chennai, and has, in fact, shot for an intense action block already.
“Mohan is known for his romantic image, and has done so many hit films that had good songs. For some reason, he hasn’t done many action movies. But in this one, he will be sporting an action avatar. But the action blocks will blend in well with the story. He plays the role of a father, and the story will revolve around an incident that happens to him and his daughter. In fact, his fans can also see the old Mohan in the film for about 20 minutes, in the scenes involving family portions,” says the director.
Ask him what prompted him to approach Mohan for this action film, and he says, “In my Dhadha 87, I cast Charuhasan, a 90-year-old actor known for his character roles, as the lead because it suited the script. It has to challenge both me and the artiste. When I approached Mohan, he said he loved the screenplay and agreed to do the film; he had said no to many offers in the past.”
Mohan has worked extensively on his look and fitness for the film. “We roped in Ranjith, a former pageant winner, to train him. The two have been working on Mohan’s fitness and eating patterns for about a month now. His look, his action style… everything will be new for his fans,” says Vijay.
The schedule in Chennai will go on for a week. “We’ll head to Coimbatore on April 9 for the next schedule,” he signs off.
