Local municipal workers in Bengaluru have successfully completed a major cleanup operation around 5 key city lakes. The large effort is part of the third phase of a special cleanliness campaign organized by the Bangalore Central Municipal Corporation. City leaders launched this program to eliminate garbage, build a waste free urban area, and earn a top spot in the national clean city rankings for 2025 and 2026.
During the drive, cleanup teams focused on four water bodies in the Sir C.V. Raman Nagar division and one major lake in the Chamarajpet division. Workers swept the lake yards, cleared nearby roadsides, and picked up trash from public paths used by local residents every single day.
In total, 46 civic workers and 15 sanitation workers worked together to remove 80 kilograms of waste from these public areas. The collected trash included plastic water bottles, old paper, thrown food, dry leaves, and other solid garbage. Officials sent all gathered waste directly to proper processing units for safe disposal.
Municipal Commissioner Jagadish G. praised the hard work of the team and highlighted the vital role that healthy lakes play in protecting the local environment. He explained that clean water bodies keep the natural balance of nature while supporting public health across nearby communities. The Commissioner stated that the city corporation will keep holding similar special cleaning drives around lakes to offer a clean and pleasant living space for all citizens.
However, city leaders stressed that official work alone cannot keep the city clean forever. Commissioner Jagadish G. appealed directly to the public, asking residents to join hands with local authorities to protect and maintain these vital water sites. He urged people to act responsibly by ending the bad practice of dumping garbage around local lakes. By keeping shared public places tidy, every citizen can play an active part in building a much cleaner, greener, healthier, and more beautiful city for everyone living in Bengaluru and for future generations to enjoy in the years ahead. Together, cleaner lakes make Bengaluru proud.
