Road work misses deadline, residents struggle as Chincholi project remains incomplete

CH NEWS, KALABURAGI

The road work, which has been in progress for several days, is reportedly moving at a slow pace. Although the contractor was given a fixed time frame to complete the project, the deadline has reportedly passed while significant work remains pending. The incomplete stretch has become a daily challenge for motorists and pedestrians. Dust, mud and potholes have made movement difficult, while rainfall has further worsened the condition of the road. Local traders and residents have also complained that the prolonged construction is affecting normal business and day-to-day activities. Residents have urged the concerned authorities to inspect the site, identify the reasons for the delay and ensure that the work is completed at the earliest.

The road works in the Afzalpur Assembly constituency are being taken up under the 2024–25 Kalyana Patha scheme with Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) funds. According to the details available, works covering a total of 39.65 km across 11 villages have been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 34 crore.

Meanwhile, Hanamanth Chincholi is being identified in local discussions as the original contractor for the works. The names of Aravind Halake, Pasha Mannur, Vishwanath Revur, Gurushant Salimath, BY Patil, Mahadev Guttedar and Jyotiprakash Patil are also being discussed locally in connection with the execution or alleged sub-contracting of the projects. However, the exact contractual arrangements and the roles of the individuals mentioned need to be verified through official records and by the concerned department. The allegations and local discussions have not been independently established.

The delay has raised questions among residents about why the road work has not been completed within the stipulated period despite substantial public funds having been sanctioned.Residents are demanding that officials conduct a detailed site inspection, verify the quality and progress of the work, examine the contractual conditions and take appropriate action if any lapse or violation is established.
