Deputy Commissioner Dr. Suresh B. Itnal directed officials to take steps for registering Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas in Koppal district to encourage youth participation in social development and nation-building activities.
He said eligible youth between 16 and 35 years should be enrolled as per government guidelines.
He was speaking at a meeting held at the District Collector’s Office Hall on Monday, organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat and Youth Empowerment and Sports Department. He said the main aim of the initiative is to develop leadership qualities, promote sports, culture, scientific thinking and social harmony among young people.
Dr. Itnal instructed officials to establish youth associations in Gram Panchayats and urban wards and encourage maximum participation. Around 10,000 associations are planned across the state, while 214 associations are expected to be formed in Koppal district. Each registered member will receive a unique identity card, and every association will have a government-appointed mentor.
He said committees should include women members and represent all communities and villages under their jurisdiction. Officials were asked to provide suitable spaces in government buildings, schools, colleges or community halls for association activities. Registered groups should conduct programmes related to disaster management, water conservation, waste management, cyber safety, traffic awareness, agriculture innovation and prevention of harmful habits.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed associations to prepare annual activity plans and upload reports with geo-tagged photographs on BJYS software. He added that financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh would be provided to registered associations at different levels. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnit Negi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sidrameshwara and other district officers. Authorities were urged to complete registration work effectively and strengthen youth involvement in community development.
DC directs officials for Independence Day preparations
District Collector Dr. Suresh B. Itnal instructed officials to prepare systematically for the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15. During the pre-Independence meeting, he directed departments to ensure proper arrangements, cleanliness, security, cultural programs and emergency facilities. Flag hoisting will be held at the District Administration Building and Stadium. Officials were asked to maintain discipline and coordinate effectively. Authorities planned ambulance services, fire safety, transport facilities and student participation. The collector also stressed avoiding plastic flags and promoting patriotic programs reflecting the region’s freedom movement. All departments were told to complete preparations before celebration day.
