CHITRADURGA
The District Tobacco Control Cell conducted a sudden inspection under the COTPA-2003 Act at Challakere Gate area in Chitradurga city. Officials checked tobacco product shops and warned people against smoking in public places, chewing tobacco, and spitting. Traders were instructed to display mandatory warning boards under the law. During the operation, 24 cases were registered under Section-4 with a fine of Rs. 2,400, while other violations led to additional penalties. A total fine of Rs. 4,100 was collected from offenders. Officials also created awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco addiction among youth.
