Congress hits BJP over NEET controversy

Koppal

Koppal District Congress President Jyothi M. Gondabale has criticised the BJP over the NEET examination controversy, stating that the ruling party cannot suppress public concern through statements and political rhetoric. She alleged that sustained protests by students and pressure from the Opposition compelled the Centre to respond to the issue.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Jyothi said the Congress was among the first political parties to raise its voice over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and question paper leak.

She asserted that Rahul Gandhi stood firmly with students demanding transparency and accountability in the examination process, adding that the Congress had always prioritised the interests of students and unemployed youth.

Responding to remarks made by BJP leaders, Jyothi alleged that their statements reflected an attempt to divert public attention from the concerns raised by students. She maintained that widespread protests across the country demonstrated growing dissatisfaction among young people over the handling of the examination issue.

The Congress leader also criticised the BJP for what she described as its failure to fulfil promises relating to employment opportunities for the country’s youth. She questioned the implementation of the party’s assurances regarding job creation and urged the government to focus on addressing the aspirations of students instead of engaging in political exchanges.

Referring to incidents of protests over the NEET issue, she alleged that students had faced police action while demanding justice and called for greater sensitivity in dealing with their concerns. She said the future of students should remain the highest priority for every government.

Jyothi also sought clarification from BJP leaders on various recent developments, including incidents involving attacks on Congress offices and public statements made by senior leaders. She urged the ruling party to provide clear answers instead of making allegations against the Opposition.

Reiterating the Congress party’s stand, she said the party would continue to support students and youth seeking fairness and transparency in competitive examinations. She emphasised that maintaining the integrity of the examination system is essential for protecting the aspirations of lakhs of students across the country.

The statement primarily reflects the views and allegations made by the Congress leader. No response from the BJP regarding these specific claims was available at the time of issuing the statement.
