Mandya gets new Aadhaar Seva Kendra: HDK

The Central Government has approved the establishment of an Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Mandya, fulfilling a long-pending demand of residents and significantly improving access to Aadhaar enrolment and update services in the district.

The approval comes after sustained efforts by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, who had personally appealed to Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw to sanction a dedicated Aadhaar Seva Kendra for Mandya.

In his response, Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Kumaraswamy that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had examined the proposal and approved the establishment of the new centre. Although Aadhaar services are currently available through 110 operational enrolment kits across Mandya district, the dedicated Aadhaar Seva Kendra will be equipped with four permanent enrolment kits, providing specialised and streamlined services to the public.

The new facility will enable residents to complete Aadhaar enrolment, biometric updates, demographic corrections and other related services without travelling long distances or facing extended waiting periods. It is also expected to strengthen access to government schemes, scholarships, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programmes and various digital services that require Aadhaar authentication.

Welcoming the decision, Kumaraswamy described it as the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of Mandya residents. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision of strengthening citizen-centric digital governance and expressed gratitude to Ashwini Vaishnaw for promptly responding to the request.

The Union Minister said the Aadhaar Seva Kendra would significantly improve public service delivery across Mandya and neighbouring areas. He added that the initiative marks another important milestone in the Digital India mission by ensuring technology-enabled, transparent and accessible government services reach people at the grassroots level. The centre is expected to become operational after the completion of necessary administrative and infrastructure arrangements.
