The Koppal District Police returned seized properties worth Rs 1.82 crore to rightful owners and heirs during a special programme held at the police parade grounds.
Bellary Zone Inspector General of Police Dr. P.S. Harsha appreciated the efforts of police teams for solving property crime cases through quick action and technical skills.
The programme also included a talent award ceremony for children of police personnel who scored above 90 per cent in SSLC and second PUC examinations. Around 53 students were honoured with appreciation letters and mementos by the IG for their academic achievements.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Harsha said 252 property theft cases were reported in Koppal district between January 2025 and June 2026. Police successfully detected 104 cases and recovered stolen items including gold jewellery, silver articles, cash, vehicles, and mobile phones. The recovered valuables were handed over to victims after completing legal procedures.
Koppal Superintendent of Police Dr. Ram L. Arasiddi said the recovered property included 988 grams of gold, 10 kg of silver, Rs 43.33 lakh cash, six four-wheelers, three three-wheelers, 34 motorcycles, and 1,905 mobile phones traced through the CEIR portal. He said returning lost property has increased public trust in the police department.
Officials said strict measures, including night patrolling, CCTV monitoring, and tracking of previous offenders, will continue to prevent crimes. The Mobile Forensic Lab vehicle of Koppal District Police was also launched during the programme.
The event was attended by senior police officials, staff members, police families, and members of the public. Victims expressed happiness after receiving their stolen belongings back and thanked the police for their sincere efforts and timely action.
Police families receive sewing training for income growth
The Koppal District Police and Sarvodaya Integrated Rural Development Institute launched a free sewing training program for women from police families to promote self-reliance and financial growth. The program was inaugurated by Dr. P.S. Harsha at Police Bhawan. He said police personnel remain dedicated to public service and such skill training can help their families earn additional income. The initiative aims to provide women with skills to start businesses or find employment opportunities.
