NEW DELHI
The Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for filing appeals to the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal until July 31. This move comes after taxpayers faced technical glitches on the GSTAT portal caused by an overwhelming rush of filings. Nearly 30,000 appeals were submitted in just the last two weeks, causing significant system congestion. The government urges businesses to file early rather than waiting for the final date. Meanwhile, India’s tax revenue continues to climb, with recent data showing strong growth in both GST and direct tax collections despite ongoing global economic challenges.
