He was speaking at a meeting held on Thursday on Implementation, Trash Management, Transport and Processing Improvement of the BBMP under the ‘Garbage Management Rules-2016’.

“Citizens should realize their responsibility and distribute raw and dry garbage at the earliest. About 40 percent of garbage in the city comes from wholesale garbage producers. Officials should keep track of how much garbage is being generated, how many people are registered for disposal and where it is disposed of. Survey of production sites should be carried out. The total number of stores, their type, the number of apartment complexes, and the amount of trash collected in them should be made available. ”

“Marshalls should also keep an eye on wholesale garbage producers. Trash and trash can be strictly penalized in the city. There should be awareness on proper disposal of garbage. If they do not properly dispose of the garbage, they should be fined, ”he advised.

“All garbage treatment plants in the city must be adequately functioning. The Karnataka Pollution Control Board should regularly check whether the environment is clean. Care must be taken not to contaminate the surrounding water and air. The BBMP should take precautionary measures so that the locals are not affected by garbage disposal, ”he said.

BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta said, ‘A ground level plan for garbage disposal in the city should be formulated. Those who obey the garbage management rules should be penalized without dumping. Citizens should be educated on garbage and dry litter. The Joint Commissioners of the respective sectors should work together to increase the participation of the people. ”

Srinivasulu, secretary general of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, said: ‘Garbage dumping in empty places should be taken up. Steps should be taken to build a reserve zone around the garbage treatment plants.
