“In the current context of global warming and climate change, the responsibility for the conservation of forests and wildlife has increased more than ever,” said Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Ishwar B Khandre.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 2025 Forest Games, he said “Article 51 (A) of the Constitution states, as a citizen of India, I will protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife. I will have compassion for living beings.” He said that everyone should protect the natural environment as per the wishes of the Constitution.
“Our ancestors used natural resources in moderation. But today, cruelty is being done to nature and environment for the well-being of humans. In such a time, he called on the forest officers and staff who are entrusted with the sacred responsibility of forest conservation to perform their duties honestly.
He opined that sports events will help forest staff who work under pressure in undeveloped forest areas to relieve stress along with entertainment,” he added.
He said, “Strong youth power is needed to build a healthy society, and sports activities make the youth mentally and physically strong. Sports are a part of human life It is an integral part, and since the beginning of civilization, man has been developing sports to showcase his physical strength and for entertainment.” He said that there are mentions of competitions in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. He continued that achievement is possible with continuous practice, and forest officers and staff should be committed to the conservation and development of forests and forest wealth.
