District members appointed to promote Kannada language, culture, and awareness

The Department of Kannada and Culture has recently issued an official order appointing non-official members to strengthen Kannada awareness initiatives in Kalaburagi. As part of this, several members have been selected for the Kannada Awareness Committee under the Kalaburagi Municipal Corporation, as well as for the district-level Kannada Awareness Committee under the Kannada Development Authority, with five members appointed at the district level.

For the municipal committee, the selected members include Shreeshaila Nagaral, writer Vishwanath Bhakare, Gulbarga University guest lecturer Karuna Jamadarkhani, activist Sunil Manpade, Sayyeda Sophia Begum, and Mahadevi M.B. Ningappa. These individuals bring diverse experience and expertise, covering literature, academia, activism, and social service, aimed at promoting the Kannada language and culture across the city.

At the district level, the appointed members include journalist Majid Dagi, professor Sharanbasappa Waddanakeri, Kashinath from Jevargi taluk, Nandini Surendra Sanbal, who serves as the District President of the Women Employees’ Association, and Manjunath from Salebeeranahalli in Chincholi taluk. Their inclusion is intended to enhance awareness programs, encourage participation in cultural initiatives, and support efforts to preserve and promote the Kannada language and heritage throughout the district.

The appointments highlight the government’s commitment to engaging knowledgeable and active citizens in promoting Kannada language and culture. By involving writers, educators, journalists, activists, and community leaders, both the municipal and district committees aim to strengthen cultural awareness, organize programs, and inspire citizens to take pride in their linguistic and cultural heritage.
