“Some Mathadhishas are spreading confusion by claiming Veerashaiva and Lingayat are distinct communities. However, five Mathadhishas have extended their support to the Veerashaiva-Lingayat Unity Conference scheduled in Hubballi on September 19,” said Veerasomeshwara Swamiji of Rambhapuri Peetha.
Speaking at the Janajathi–Janaganathi awareness event at Rambhapuri Peetha, he offered his blessings and stressed that the Veerashaiva religion has a rich heritage and ancient roots. He criticized those who misunderstand its principles and thereby tarnish the Veerashaiva Lingayat culture. Preserving and strengthening the unity of Veerashaiva Lingayat is essential, without being swayed by divisive voices.
He explained that the ideologies of Renukadi Panchacharya and Basavadi Sharan align perfectly. Veerashaiva is a comprehensive ideological term, while Lingayat arises from customary practice. The All India Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha has clarified that both are inseparable.
The resolution from the Davangere Summit, supported by Panch Peethadhishas, affirms this unity. Swamiji condemned attempts to divide the community under the guise of Basava’s teachings and affirmed that the upcoming Hubballi conference, supported by Rambhapuri, Ujjain, Kedar, Srisailam, and Kashi Swamijis, will uphold collective consciousness as envisioned by Basavanna.
