BMTC Bus Breakdown Near Kasturi Nagar Triggers Traffic Snarl Towards Ramamurthy Nagar

Bengaluru witnessed yet another traffic bottleneck on Sunday after a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus broke down near Kasturi Nagar, severely affecting the flow of vehicles towards Ramamurthy Nagar. The incident occurred during the late morning hours when the stretch usually experiences steady weekend traffic, resulting in long queues of vehicles and frustrated commuters.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus suddenly came to a halt near a busy intersection, occupying a significant portion of the road. With no immediate alternative available for motorists, two-wheelers and cars struggled to maneuver around the stranded vehicle. This created a ripple effect, causing traffic to slow down not just on the main Kasturi Nagar–Ramamurthy Nagar route but also on connecting lanes.

Traffic police arrived at the spot soon after being alerted. Officers, along with BMTC staff, made efforts to regulate the traffic flow while arrangements were made to tow the bus away. Despite these efforts, commuters reported delays of over 20–30 minutes, with some even missing appointments and scheduled events. Local residents also expressed concern, pointing out that bus breakdowns on narrow stretches have become a recurring issue, often leaving the roads gridlocked for long durations.

The BMTC later confirmed that the bus had developed a technical snag and assured that maintenance checks would be reinforced to prevent such incidents in the future. Meanwhile, traffic police urged motorists to remain patient during such unforeseen disruptions and to follow diversions promptly when announced.
