Shivajinagar traffic restrictions announced

Commuters advised to follow diversions and avoid restricted areas for smooth travel.

The Shivajinagar Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic restrictions on 8th September 2025 to facilitate the annual St. Mary’s Basilica chariot procession, scheduled from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Several key roads in the vicinity will be closed to ensure smooth movement and public safety during the event.

Vehicular movement will be prohibited on roads including Jyothikere to Russell Market, Broadway Road towards Russell Market, and Dharmaraja Koil Street from Old Poor House Road to Taj Circle. Traffic from BRV Junction to Shivajinagar Bus Stand, as well as from Balekundry Circle, will also be restricted, including BMTC buses.

Authorities have designated alternative routes for two-wheelers, light motor vehicles, and BMTC buses. Commuters from Anil Kumble Junction can use CTO–Queen’s Circle–MG Road, while other light vehicles may take Safina Plaza Commercial Street–Kamaraj Road or Ramada Hotel–VSN Road routes to bypass the restrictions.

Parking will be prohibited near Russell Market, Broadway Road, Meenakshi Koil Street, Central Street, Shivaji Road, Cunningham Road, and other key locations around the procession route. To assist commuters, temporary BMTC bus stops have been arranged at BRV Junction, CTO Junction, and other strategic locations across North, South, East, and West Bengaluru, including Cubbon Road, Koramangala, Majestic, Malleshwaram, and Mysore Road areas.

Police officials urge commuters to plan their journeys in advance, follow traffic diversions, and cooperate with personnel on duty. The restrictions aim to ensure the safety of devotees and pedestrians while maintaining orderly vehicular movement during the festival procession.
