Story Behind Rajinikanth’s Iconic Title Card Superstar Rajinikanth

It is known that actor Rajinikanth is fondly called as Superstar by his fans, and the stylish actor has been ruling the film industry for more than 30 years. Filmmaker Suresh Krissnas superhit film Annamalai was the first movie which featured the iconic title card Superstar Rajinikanth accompanied by the pulsating music.
While on a television, director Suresh Krissna had revealed the story behind the iconic title card. He said that the name Rajinikanth itself starts off a roaring applause among the fans and so he wanted to get the similar feel at the star of the film itself and designed the Superstar Rajinikanth title card. He revealed the Rajinikanth was not ok with such a build up for him right at the start of the film itself and that it would be like blowing his own trumpet. But then director K Balachander, who was the producer of the film apparently convinced Rajinikanth that will be all fine and it then turned out to be an iconic title card for the star actor that is still the most favorite among the fans.
Annamalai marked the first collaboration of Rajini and Suresh; the duo then went on to work in three more films – Veera, Baasha and Baba – among which Baasha became the mother of all commercial potboilers in Tamil cinema.
